For Trevor

My friend Trevor loves emo pictures. His Facebook is full of emo pics of himself. In his honor, I took this a little earlier

in other news, this is my 300th post. And it was brought to you from a different computer as my residence had it's WiFi revoked. And my sanity will be gone before the night is up. But happy frickin' 300th to me.

Julie, here is my response

So I have a girlfriend. Is that weird to anyone else? Casey "doomed to be alone forever because girls always find reasons to run away" Tregeagle has a girlfriend. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy about it. Ecstatic. Jaunty. But after all the blunders I've experienced with the gentler sex, its just odd that things have worked out like this.

I have spent most of my life being ignored by the ladies. Ok, ignored is probably a little overdramatic. I suppose, reguarded as a non-sexual entity, would be a better way to put it. The LDS girls did not pick up what I was laying down. I was frequently told I was not strong enough in the church for their liking. And, you know, it stung a bit. Till like the 4th time I was told that. Then I think I gave up. Well, I should say gave up seeking. Let what will happen, happen.

Sidenote: One of my oldest friends, Julieanna, posted a blog asking what has made you, the loyal readers in the blogesphere, happy in the recent present. This, Ju Ju, is what has made me supremely happy over the last couple weeks.

Sirs Sherwin and Jackson

So I have have picked up reading a blog recently. It is scribed by my old friend, Julie's betrothed, Mr. Andy Sherwin. You can check it out. I get a bit of enjoyment out of his writing for a couple reasons.

1. His blog entries are always 3-4, fully formed, 5 sentence+ paragraphs. I love long blog entries. I don't know that I am capable of creating one myself, but I love to see when others manage it.

2. He presents his ideas with facts. He is knowledgeable. It always seems that he has done research on the subject before fully forming his opinion.

These together have brought me to feel like I'm reading a doctoral dissertation with each new blog entry. That makes me feel really smart. He uses words like "symbiotic" and "motifs" and I'm really jealous cause if I use those words, I sound like an 8 year old who just heard a big word and decides he should use it all the time in inproper ways.

Anyway, he recently wrote on the passing if one Mr. Jackson. It was refreshing to hear a new perspective. His thoughts have led me to discuss my own. I, for one, do not feel an aching in my soul. I understand and repect his place in pop music history. He has created some of the most well-known songs in the world. He was very gifted. However, I feel people somehow mourning an aging popstar, saying his death is huge loss to pop music today, I can't help but disagree. Besides numerous greatest hits albums (and sorry but they don't count), the man hasn't created any legitimate or noteworthy music in eight years. His last album, Off the Wall, released in 2001, was widely considered a flop. Other than that, he has been bashed for years for his eccentricities. So what exactly is the world missing with him gone? I'm sorry if that sounds insensitive, but he is in a better place. In this world, he is an "crazy, ex-popstar pedophile". We made that persona for him and now people are trying to act like they always loved him. As I have said before, I respect and understand what he has done for pop music. However, I'm not going to pretend that I will miss him dearly.

Wishin' and Hopin'

Upon skimming Emily's Entertainment Weekly, I saw Stephan King's column about his hopes and wishes for 2009. I quickly absorbed Uncle Steve's desires for the new year and couldn't help but think of some of my own. So kudos, Mr. King, for getting me a-desiring for a good year. Here are my hopes and wishes for '09.

I hope Obama can fix the garbage dump of a situation our nation is in. If McCain won I'd hope for the same thing. It's a big task and I will put my hopes behind Obams that he is the right man for the job.

I wish that people would start seeing how freakin' incredible that "How I Met Your Mother" is. Neil Patrick Harris is getting some attention for his role, so I think that is a good start! It needs some serious Emmy love.

I hope I will stop making-out with inappropriate people. I have gained a lot of self control in the past year, which again is a good start! And I hope that I will date someone that IS appropriate.

I wish for a book to catch my fancy and make me want to read it in one night. I did love the vampire antics of Stephanie Meyer, but it's a new year. Time to move on.

I wish for another great season of LOST and a redemptive season of 24.

I hope for an Oscar for Heath Ledger as the Joker.

I hope with the entirety of my over-worked heart that I'll be trained in High School.

I wish for Harry Potter 6 to be amazing and not fall flat on it's face.

I hope that I can manage to become about...let's say 8 degrees happier a person. I think that will be my '09 main idea. "Be Happy"

I wish for the continuation of my "astounding" knowledge of obscure bands.

I hope that I will get to do a lot more Block Party. I know, everyone hates it, but I loves it.

I wish for more Diablo Cody writtings. New book, new column, new movie, new tv show. Whatever form she'd do, I'd take it.

And most of all I wish, by the end of the year, I will have some idea of what I want to do with my life.

So there are my new year desires. What are yours?

I Know Where I've Been

Writing is cathartic. For me at least. I can often get some perspective on a given situation when I write it out. Just blurt it, you know? Induce word vomit. It sometimes works by talking through the problem with someone, but it is a pretty sure thing if I write it out, I'll be able to handle the situation in a mature, "drama-free" manor.

Now, I have said before that whilst writing in the blogesphere, you are essentially giving up the privacy of your thoughts. That's kinda the point. However, there are always going to be times where you want to have an uncensored vent-fest (by uncensored, I mean using actual names and the specific situation). Many friends I know of, have second "secret" blogs, perhaps, just for this reason. So I found it a little odd to be met with confusion when said friends became aware of my very own second blog.

Anyway, my point is this. I know my second blog wasn't on a private "invite only" setting. Hell, I even posted the link to check it out. But the madness behind the Here's the thing... was that I too wanted the chance to be uncensored. It clearly didn't work out well.

The Space Between

So here's the deal.

2 weeks ago there was alot, i mean ALOT, of crap going down in my life. It was a little too much for me to handle. So I told the sponsers that I needed a break. Apparently to them that meant, "I am quitting and you should replace me with some deuche with 2 first names". Needless to say, a change was NOT what was needed at The Daily Casey. The blog went to pot under Alex Nicholas' inexperienced short reign.

When they replaced me, I moved on and created a new blog that has been fairly well recieved. Then, the sponsers over here begged me to come back. So I presented them with a plan. I am gonna pull a Shonda Rimes and continue writing for both blogs with care and attention. Neither is going to become the "Private Practice" of the blogesphere. I will be bringing in guest writers for The Daily Casey, so I can take a break every once in a while. I have confidence in this plan and hope you will enjoy the re-reign, if you will, of yours truly.

The Daily Casey will do what it has always done best. Be up with pop culture. Bring new music and thoughts on new movies and tv shows. It's what this blog has become known for and will continue to do it with excellence. Here's the Thing, my second blog, will be a more general account of day to day life. I am trying to see the bigger picture and I think this is apart of it.

Enjoy your day.

Secret

I really find humor in people with 'secret' additional blogs. No offence to you guys who have them. I just think that with if you put things out on the inter-web you would be okay with people viewing your writtings. I understand wanting to keep some thoughts private but thats what a Journal is for. To each his own I guess. But it's gotten me wanting my own secret blog. No one will even know about it. That's how secret it will be. Oh, wait, I just told you guys. DAMN IT!
